Registration is Open for AIDS Walk Northwest

CAP is excited to announce that registration for the 2020 AIDS Walk Northwest (previously AIDS Walk Portland) is now open!

For 35 years, Cascade AIDS Project has called upon thousands of community members, advocates and activists to step up and take a stand against HIV transmission. We take to the streets of Portland to remind everyone that HIV/AIDS has impacted each and every one of our lives in some way. The funds raised during this event fund CAP’s mission to support and empower all people living with or affected by HIV, reduce stigma, and provide compassionate healthcare to the LGBTQ+ community & beyond.

If you are a returning supporter, many things will look familiar, but a few things may be slightly different than you remember, especially our name. Earlier this year, CAP made a shift in our domain and became capnw.org. One of the biggest reasons for this shift was to more accurately represent the expansion of our services into other communities. Since CAP's founding, we have grown to service not just the city of Portland, but also many of the surrounding counties and SW Washington. In the spirit of growth and inclusion, we have become AIDS Walk Northwest!

You can register for free by visiting https://www.aidswalknorthwest.org/fundraiser/signup and reserve your spot at one of our suggested walk routes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to represent the expansion of CAP’s services across Oregon and SW Washington, we are creating a variety of walking loops for you and your teams to choose from this year.  You can also read the powerful stories that motivate our walkers to join us year over year and share your own story at our digital Why We Walk site!

On September 12, 2020, we will kick off the day with a virtual AIDS Walk Northwest livestream program that you can view on our website! Following the virtual program, you and your team can head out to one of our pre-planned walking loops to pick up your free AIDS Walk Northwest T-shirt, prizes, and more! Please note that we are encouraging all participants and volunteers to wear face coverings and maintain suggested physical distancing guidelines for everyone’s safety.

Thank you so much for your support of CAP and AIDS Walk Northwest! If you have any questions or concerns regarding the event, please reach out to Braden DenHerder, Event + Development Coordinator, at bdenherder@capnw.org or (206) 949-4577.
