CAP Advances Healthcare Equity with $300,000 Grant from KeyBank

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for CAP! Thanks to a generous $300,000 grant from KeyBank, we will be launching our new Healthcare Equity Advocate Program, a pivotal initiative designed to tackle disparities in healthcare access and outcomes for marginalized communities across Oregon and Southwest Washington.

At CAP, we are dedicated to advancing healthcare equity and inclusion. With this grant, we will enhance our efforts to serve Black, Latino, Indigenous, Pacific Islander, LGBTQ+, and other underserved communities. This support will empower us to break down systemic barriers to care and ensure that every individual has access to the compassionate and culturally responsive healthcare they deserve.

Keybank stopped by the brand new Prism Health | Morris clinic last week to commemorate this incredible moment together!

We are excited to share that Robb Lawrence, a valued member of our CAP team, has been promoted to Community Healthcare Equity and Engagement Manager. In his new role, Robb will spearhead the Healthcare Equity Advocate Program, building strong connections with community leaders, nonprofits, schools, churches, and other organizations. His work will be instrumental in bridging the gap between CAP’s healthcare services and those who need them most, fostering a more equitable and inclusive healthcare environment.

As the oldest and largest provider of HIV services and LGBTQ+ healthcare in our region, CAP has long been committed to promoting well-being and advancing equity through our inclusive health and wellness services. This grant from KeyBank is a tremendous boost to our capacity to reach and engage racially diverse communities in a culturally informed manner. Through targeted outreach, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, we will be able to offer more tailored and effective support.

“This grant from KeyBank will not only advance our reach into the community where it is needed most but will allow CAP to cultivate deeper, more meaningful connections with those facing the greatest barriers to accessing care.
— Paul Lumley, CAP's CEO

Josh Lyons, KeyBank Oregon and SW Washington Market President, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership: “CAP’s outreach efforts play a pivotal role in connecting underserved populations with LGBTQ+ culturally specific healthcare services, and we are pleased to help this visionary organization facilitate greater community engagement and awareness about available resources. At KeyBank, our mission is to help our communities thrive, and this grant further underscores our commitment to DEI and improving access for all.”

Our Chief Executive Officer, Paul Lumley, also shared his thoughts on this impactful grant: “This grant from KeyBank will not only advance our reach into the community where it is needed most but will allow CAP to cultivate deeper, more meaningful connections with those facing the greatest barriers to accessing care. By building these relationships, we can better address systemic barriers and improve the health and well-being of all those we serve.”

We are immensely grateful to KeyBank for their support and partnership. With this grant, we are empowered to continue our mission of fostering health equity and providing compassionate care to all who are seeking it. We look forward to the positive changes this program will bring and are excited to continue our work in making healthcare more inclusive and accessible for all.
