AIDS Walk Northwest 2023 - ReCAP

Upwards of 1,500 people took to the streets last month in support of all those living with and affected by HIV at AIDS Walk Northwest 2023. We’d like to give a huge thank you to the first-time walkers, long-time supporters, volunteers, staff members, entertainers, representatives, community partners, sponsors, family and friends who make up our community.

The event kicked off at Revolution Hall on the morning of September 7th. There was truly something for everyone—including free HIV testing, sign-making, face-painting, snacks, and an interactive “Why I Walk” art installation.

The walk was lead by long term survivors, including many participants from CAP’s Aging Well program for aging adults living with or affected by HIV. The crowd passed by Prism Health, CAP’s LGBTQ+ primary care clinic, and Our House of Portland, the long term residential care facility for people living with HIV. Passersby stopped to watch as the street filled with people of all ages, hand-made signs, music, and the spirit of community.
