Reflecting on 35 Years of Service

Portland, OR | January 8, 2020 - Thirty five years ago CAP incorporated as a nonprofit under a mission designed to support men, women, and youth affected by HIV and AIDS, prevent the spread of HIV in populations at highest risk, and advocate for an effective community response to the epidemic. We were a reflective light for many in the darkest of days. A time where diagnosis for most meant a death sentence. Today, an individual’s journey with HIV has transformed from dying from, to living with, to now thriving despite.

We have made great progress and yet there is still a challenging road ahead to ending HIV in Oregon and SW Washington and the work under CAP’s mission remains critical.

For more than three decades, CAP has earned its place as an established part of the community and a leader in the fight against HIV, garnering local trust and national respect. We have been a safety net provider by and for the community and we are stronger for it.

So, as we transition to 2020, CAP will be reflecting on 35 years of service, our community impact, and our future work to support and empower people living with and affected by HIV, reduce stigma and provide the LGBTQ+ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare.

In our 35th year we look forward to reflecting with you, to honoring our past, celebrating the present, and sharing some exciting updates about our continued growth and impact in the communities we serve throughout Oregon and SW Washington.

Happy New Year and Happy Anniversary to CAP!
