Trans Activist Aydian Dowling To Throw Out Opening Pitch At Bat’N Rouge!

Portland, OR | July 23, 2015 - Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) will host the fourth annual “Bat ‘n Rouge” softball tournament. The family-friendly tournament—featuring drag queens, music, and general hilarity—will take place 11 AM to 4 PM on July 26th at Erv Lind Stadium in Normandale Park. Bat ‘n Rouge will raise funds to help those impacted by HIV/AIDS.

The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Aydian Dowling, one of most prominent faces in the trans visibility movement. Aydian was a recent contender for the cover of Men's Health magazine and was recently featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The event will be hosted by Portland drag legends Carla Rossi and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will cheerlead. Music will be provided by Local DJ and The Rose City Gay Freedom band. A beer garden and concession stand will be open all day during the game. Bat ‘n Rouge has a $5 suggested donation (beer garden is $20 and available for those 21+ only).

The tournament is the vehicle though the fun is anticipated to come from the good-natured spectacle of the characters, peppered with comedic relief and spicy banter. At the focus however, is the goal to raise $20,000. To donate before the event and to check out the team captain photos, visit www.AIDSwalkPortland.org. This tournament is sponsored by Absolut Vodka, Portland Integrated Health and Sports Medicine, Miller Light, Smith and Forge Cider, and Morel Ink.

High resolution photographs of the event, its attendees, and a compiled video of the event will be available by request following the tournament. Interviews of players, Cascade AID Project clients, and organizers can be arranged before, during, and after the event.

Erv Lind Stadium in Normandale Park is located at 5700 NE Halsey Street in Portland, Oregon.
